Many mitochondria are contained in the cells of our bodies. The mitochondria makes energy to power the cell. They contain highly specialized ~enzymes~ capable of breaking down fat and glucose to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Adenosine triphosphate is the cells energy source.
